What if all of your rights were taken from you and you was not even aware of it? Your “Privacy” has to be one of the most important values to you as a person living in the United States. The term “Privacy” is overrated now compared to the technology used in the United States Government. The NSA known as the National Security Agency is provided to exploit foreign use of electronic signals and systems and securing information systems used by the U.S. and its allies, while protecting privacy and civil liberties. Has the measures taken to make sure this does not happen gone too far? I believe it has gone to the extreme, breaking the first and fourth amendment of the constitution.
Although
the privacy button on Facebook page permits your business from being exploited your information still is not safe from being viewed by the government. The NSA along with federal agencies and local police have recently been able to
view Facebook private data of between 18,000 and 19,000 users. Knowing this insidere what is there to trust in the internet life. Users go on using these networks believing all of their business is being hidden from the world in one click. Most of us are being fooled and this is not fair that we are unaware of this. Not only is Facebook being viewed but also your
email account. Emails are made for personal uses between you and a business
partner, professor, or even a distant relative. The agency defeats the whole
purpose of an email being personal. It is understandable that the NSA is trying to achieve their
goals, but going through all the information of Americans just cause takes away
a right from the people.
The fourth amendment states “The right of the
people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against
unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants
shall issuUntil a paper is given this amendment has been a broken promise to us.e, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and
particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to
be seized. " No paper have been given to us to record our phone calls or snoop through our emails. When someone is found breaking the policy a warrant has not been notified to them because their personal business has been exploited. Our rights are being
taken away from us one by one. Also the first amendment which is the freedom of
speech is being broken. We have the right to express ourselves in tongue and
religion. Well what is the reason for snooping on our conversation then?
We get it, they do not
want any kind of danger or policy broken with the foreigners. Is all of the
processes used to record the metadata and information needed? Instead of targeting
us can the NSA simply target the foreigners? It is said that we already become
a victim if we come in contact with a foreigner. We are targeted and watched but
if the information being transferred or being discussed is not illegal what is the
problem we have here? I believe the government just gets more and more nosey
for the hell of it. That is why you always have to be cautious and ask the question
“are we being watched” when we are doing something because you never know who
is watching you.
