My Top 5 Shows

Top 5 shows

1) Starz introduced Spartacus in 2010, and the show was been phenomenal. The 5 season series follows the story of the unnamed enslaved Thracian, and his life as a rebel gladiator all the way up to his death. The show features extremely graphics battles, filled with blood and amazing effects. The show had a set back after season one when the lead actor for Spartacus, Andy Whitefield, died of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but it recuperated with an awesome prequel and a good replacement. The show is filled with suspense, love, betrayal and bloody battles. The story does more than just give a reenactment of the third servile war of ancient Rome; it takes us to the heart of the rebellion and the driving force of Spartacus and his followers. The struggles and pain of each character is shown to us, connecting us to more than just the great rebel Spartacus, and making each death that much more emotional and heartbreaking to the audience. This one is definitely worth the watch.

2) ABC’s Lost is one of the greatest drama series ever produced. With 121 episodes spanning over 6 seasons, I don’t have to explain the heartbreak that came along with the shows finale when we had to part ways with the characters we came to know and love over the years. With Lost, we are taken through the epic story of a plane crash on a mysterious island.

An island where miracles and other inexpiable events take place. One of the intriguing things about lost is how each character is unknowingly connected to each other.  We get to watch the characters fall in love, make hard decisions to survive life on the island, both good and bad, and watch all the mysteries unfold out. Only a few make it off the island, only to be forced back to finish what had started years earlier. Lost takes us on the mysterious, heartfelt journey that really connects us to a great story filled life lessons, miracles, and hope.

3) Criminal Minds makes us all want to be a Special FBI agent. Each episode takes us to a different crime scene, a different suspect with different motives, and we watch the characters use their special behavioral analysis skills solve the crime. If you’re more into shows that involve petty crimes and low status criminals, then this isn't the show for you. But if you’re looking for a psychosomatic and mental thriller where an intelligent police force uses more than just their guns to bring in their criminal this is as good as gets! Criminal minds portrays gruesome, suspenseful crimes committed by psychopaths and lunatics. While the crimes can be horrific, the gruesomeness catches us in and makes it’s very much entertaining to watch the agents solve the puzzle, put the pieces together and catch their bad guy. Although each episode is about solving the crime, the story line never repeats itself, so you’ll never get tired of watching Criminal Minds.

4) This witty and humorous comedy will have you literally laughing out loud. Modern Family really depicts the stereotypical family of the modern age through a mockumentary with the characters sometimes talking directly into the camera. The show is about a large, blended family and shows the viewers an honest look into the modern family through a gay couple, a multicultural couple, and a straight couple. The television hit has received positive reviews from critics and has also won four consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Television Series. Modern Family has recently started its fifth season on ABC. Not only does the show air on ABC; rights have also been sold for USA Network to also air Modern Family. Modern Family is not specified for a certain age group, therefore, it is a good television show to watch with your family television show.

5) Breaking Bad is a crime drama series, but is labeled a contemporary western by its creator, and shows the two year long story of the life of Walter White. Walter was a high school chemistry teacher who had gotten diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer in the beginning of the series. He then starts producing and selling methamphetamine to help his family with their financial struggle before he dies. The television show is considered one of the best television shows of all time. With the series ending at its fifth season, Breaking Bad was one of the most watched cable shows on American television. The television show has won ten Primetime Emmy Awards, including three consecutive wins for Best Actor for Cranston (Walter), two wins for Best Supporting Actor for Paul (Jesse, one of Walter’s former students), a Best Supporting Actress win for Anna Gunn (Walter’s wife), and the Outstanding Drama Series in 2013, after three nominations.
