TOP 5 European Countries to Visit

5) Germany

Germany is a country full of history! One of the more prominent historic landmarks from Germany’s very dark, yet rich history is the Berlin Wall. There are many intriguing tales of escape related to this wall so it would be very interesting to hear the tales of the Berlin Wall. Also in Germany is Oktoberfest, the largest fair in the world. More than 6 million people from around the world participate in this enormous event. Neuschwanstein castle is the inspiration for the castle in Disneys: Sleeping Beauty. More than 6,000 people visit this castle daily! Everyone loves theme parks including myself. Europa Park is something unique, especially since it is the world’s number one theme park, with approximately 50 thousand guests per day! And of course after a stressful couple of days it is always nice to just relax in the Tropical Islands Resort. But this is not just any old resort. This resort is under a very large airship hangar, the largest free standing in the world!

4) Switzerland

I have always loved scenic views, especially ones that have majestic mountains! Switzerland is the perfect destination for this, its pretty much nothing but mountains. Matterhorn is one of the highest peaks in the Alps with an altitude of 4,478 meters. Apart from the majestic views, the Alps attract more and more people per day for the excitement of trekking. A great way to cross the Alps is by traveling on the Bernina Express. It connects the Northern Europe to Southern Europe. One of the largest waterfalls in the Alps are Reichenbach Falls which provides an excellent photo opportunity. For all you Sherlock Holmes fans out there, this is the location where a part of Sherlock Holmes was filmed! Another exciting site to visit is the Château de Chillon on Lake Geneva. This island castle is composed of around 100 independent buildings and is “Switzerland’s most visited historic monument”. Tours are set for the public to view and learn about the history of the castle. Lake Lucerne, also known as “Lake of the Four Forested Cantons" is located in the center of Switzerland and is the country’s fourth largest lake. Tourists get a great view of the mountains while staying at the exotic hotels near the shore. This country is great for anyone who just wants to get away from the rush of the city and just relax.

3) United Kingdom

Who in the world does not know what Stonehenge is? It is only the most well known monument in the world, dating back to the Bronze Age. It is a site to definitely see if you are in the U.K. When you see pictures of London, many of them have a shot of the great and famous London Eye, the big Ferris wheel! It would be fun to ride that Ferris wheel and get a look at all of London. And of course, there is the British monarchs abode, Buckingham Palace. This majestic building is almost as old as Britain herself! To miss out on seeing this royal building is to miss out on see a good portion of Britain. It also serves as housing for foreign diplomats. If there is one thing in this world I love, it is chocolate. The U.K is home to Cadbury World, or British Chocolate. It is Britain’s largest leisure attraction with over 500,000 visitors each year! Did i mention that at the end of the tour you could make your own chocolate?

2) France

It is one of the most beautiful and the most visited monument in the world...the amazing Eiffel Tower. The Tower gives an exceptional view of the Paris Skyline, and Paris itself has been know as “The city of Love” for all you couples out there! The Palace of Versailles, also know as the Museum of the History of France, is not only know for its political, but its royal history. Political functions are still held there but it is open for the public to explore France’s history. Notre Dame, known from Disney’s “Hunchback of Notre Dame, is one of most famous Cathedrals in Paris. It stands as an example of France’s Gothic Architecture and in my opinion their brilliance. Tourists can explore the French culture in a street in Paris called Champs-Élysées. It consists of shops, cafes, and cinemas but it is extremely expensive to go shopping here. Arc de Triomphe is also located on this street. It is one of the most visited sites in Paris and honors the people who died fighting for the country during the French Revolution.

1) Italy

Last but not least, my favorite country to visit would be to beautiful and exotic Italy! It is full of cultural cities such as; Rome, Venice, Florence, and Tuscany. One of the most well known structures in Italy is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is famous for its unintentional tilt to one side, which was caused during its construction due to uneven ground. Of course who could forget about where the famed Gladiators fought for “blood and glory”, where else but the Colosseum. It was the Colosseum that was a mechanical marvel at the time. It could hold up to 80,000 spectators! The Colosseum was also known as the “Heart of Rome”. Finally there is the Vatican City, home of the Catholic Church in the beautiful urban setting of Rome. Then there are the two cultural hubs of Venice, and Florence! Venice is known for its famous Gondolas and for being the city built on water. In venice, you don't drive cars, you drive motorboats. Florence is the extreme cultural city in Italy. It was even the birthplace of the Renaissance.
