Top 5 Childhood Disney Movies

Disney movies have been well known for over a decade. They have been labeled as classic childhood movies for all 90's babies. If you were alive between 1990-1999, you would have some idea of what these movies are and what they are about. They are classic children's stories that adults still take the time to watch and reminisce with their families. There are many children's movies such as Pinocchio, Cinderella, and many more. They vary in style, theme, characters, and storyline, but they all have one thing in common. They touched our hearts and remained in our minds for many years. Although a lot of them have been claimed as fan favorite, there are five particular movies that remained my favorite because they have something about them that stands out over the rest.

                5) Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast was released in 1991. A classic French story about a princess falling in love with a prince trapped in the form of a beast. This film appeals to the emotions of viewers by displaying true love and inner beauty. It holds a life lesson that real beauty is inside and that looks don't define a person. The idea of a woman falling in love with a man despite his flaws and imperfections is something I live by even today; so of course this movie is perfect for me. It is a well-known movie with a lovely storyline appropriate for any age. As wonderful of a film it is, it did not quite qualify for the top spot on this countdown. That does not mean I do not recommend you to take some time out to go watch it.

4) Mulan

Mulan is a Disney movie about a Chinese warrior princess that was released in 1998. It was groundbreaking in the way that it defied all previous stereotypes people have about princesses. Instead of merely falling in love, Mulan goes on a great adventure with a wise-cracking dragon, played by Eddie Murphy, as her side kick. She even ends up rescuing a whole country from vicious Huns. The storyline of Mulan is unique among Disney movies which makes it a true fan favorite. Although it contains enough qualities to make the countdown, they are not enough to make it to the number one spot

3) Aladdin

Released in 1992, Aladdin is a movie about the wacky adventure of a peasant, a princess, and a genie. It is an original movie about star-crossed lovers from different social classes. Aladdin gave children the idea that it is not about where you come from, but where you are going. With it's dramatic effects and beautiful scenery, this film was naturally appealing to the eye. However, the catchy tunes in nearly every scene made it just about impossible not to love. Even with all these good qualities, Aladdin still was not able to qualify as the top movie on the list.

2) Toy Story

In 1995, the movie first Disney-Pixar collaboration was released and it went by the name of Toy Story. It appealed to all children by using there favorite thing in the whole world as the main characters- toys! Toy Story is an adventurous tale about two toys meeting in an unlikely situation and becoming the best of friends. This film contains a good moral for children of all ages. Using very manly toys such as a dinosaur and a cowboy made it more appealing and enjoyable for male children. With detailed graphics and a touching adventure, any viewer is immediately drawn into the storyline. I know I was! While receiving such a positive review, it barely missed the top spot.

1) The Lion King

The Lion King, without a doubt, triumphs, over all the others. Released in 1994, it is a movie with amazing scenery and a incredible storyline. The Lion King is not only appealing to the eye but to the emotions as well. It contains heart touching scenes that even made me tear up. The actors and actresses executed there roles phenomenally! Using animals as the main characters also makes it very appealing to all animal lovers. The Lion King is full of heart and will have you hanging on the edge of your seat feeling all kinds of emotions. Even at the age of 18, I still would spend a night watching such a fantastic movie such as this one. Even though the other movies are highly respected and considered fan favorites, The Lion King can be officially awarded as number one on the countdown!
